7 month silkies. Boy or Girl? I still cannot tell!

I’m having troubles sexing two of my silkies. A white 6month old and a cuckoo 7 month old. Usually my Silkie roos start showing their male dominance around 4/5mos and start crowing around 6months. But these two have me stumped!!! I’m pretty sure the white is a boy, small comb but he definitely has saddle feathers. He isn’t top dog though in his group (that’s my girl buff orphington). The cuckoo has me super confused though too. It is best buds with my white Silkie 2yo pullet. It even nests under her at night. It is bottom of the pecking order but makes super weird noises (similar to my young boys). No saddle feathers but it’s comb is RED and warty. I’ll try and post some pictures....

The cuckoo definitely acts like a girl but I’ve never had a silkie with the bright red warty comb. So that’s the part that was throwing me off!!

Haha. Usually the girls don’t lay until after 6mos. Mine always started closer to 8mos which is crazy I know haha. My roosters always started to crow around 5/6mos. I actually had one that crowed at 11/12wks which is WAY early for silkies. But that was an anomaly!!

I would be shocked if both were girls. I’ve been thinking boy from early on with the white one. But I’m only right 50% of the time when it comes to sexing these silkies. They always throw me for a loop right around that 6month mark.

I’m going with cuckoo cockerel and female white. This is aside the point, but would it be possible to make sex linked silkies with cuckoo hen and buff male?

That is some BIG comb on the cuckoo, I would have to think Cockerel. Your white one is a hen and gorgeous. Did you get her from a breeder? Silkies that are from hatchery stock often have incorrect comb/color and sometimes missing the 5 toes etc.
