8 week coturnix not laying

we have 20 8/9 week old coturnix and haven’t gotten eggs yet. Is this normal?

Quail start to lay around 6 to 8 weeks of age.

Have you sexed them? My last purchase of 20 quail, of which I was assured they were all female... turned out to be 17 male and 3 female. The hens were so stressed that they didn't lay until I moved them to a new hutch with only one male.

They need 14+ hours of light and 8+ hours of true darkness (no nightlights please) daily to get into a proper rhythm for laying.

Yeah, they can start laying anytime after six weeks, not months. That doesn't mean they will. There is something environmental preventing them (diet, light levels, or stress).

Mine started laying on the very day I culled several males, almost like they were relieved.

Mine tend to.lay right at 7 weeks on the regular they will start at 6 but it's very sporadic

Mine get 16 hours and 8 off.
