8 wk old Mystery Chicken

Not planning on eating her any time soon or maybe even ever but the breed is intended for meat. They are iffy layers and have huge portions of meat. That's what I meant by yummy.

We got the chickens for eggs but we don't name them since we don't want the kids thinking of them as pets (we treat them like they are though). We allow the chickens to free range our 5 acres so they should have a very good flavor when/if we eat them.

We name them for ease of identification. If I'm at work, I know what my fiance means when he said Penny laid a goose egg.

It's hard to not become attached when they jump on you for petting. Some are easy to not treat as pets of course. I have a few that are like that. I have so many right now.. @_@

We have 95 right now. Out of that - 35 have names.
