Has anyone crossed these with Rhodebars? I would think the autosexing would carry forward not sure if the result would be worth it. I would think size would go down and so would egg size.

Just grabbing straws..... Since I only have pullets at this point. I know someone more local that has some but not sure I want to put more money in them. Some things are not meant to be.

Your the third person looking for a Rooster. Which sounds odd. I'm new to this breed well I guess everyone is to some degree. Most of the time people are trying to sell off extra Roos. Mine should be laying any day. Pam

There is a lady here selling her extra roos for $50 and a pair for $140.
That's kind of expensive, in my opinion. I don't even charge for roos. Someone buys a pullet from me and I throw in a cockerel for free if they want one. The only roos I ever charge for are my Ayam Cemani roos because of the genetic potential. Most of the roos I have usually end up in the freezer.

I thought the same thing. I don't charge for roo usually.....maybe $5-10 if they are bigger. I give 98% away to my roo guy.

Maybe she is trying to keep competition down. IDK.....

Then again, a little over a year ago, they were $1,000 for a breeding pair . . . a small number of people made a BIG investment to get them here. I'm ok with them getting a little of it back, as the market will tolerate. JMHO

On another note, I moved 4 of my Bielie cockerels to a big pen today - still indoors. They are rooming with 6 BBW turkey poults. If they do well, the others will follow : )

I got my Bieles a year ago included in my $100 mix auction from Greenfire (three pairs included). So if they were including them in the mix auctions, I really hope that people were not still paying $1K for them.

I am ok with people trying to sell them if they need to make money. I just think that people should research market conditions. In my market in the DC/MD/VA market, no one pays for roosters, even rare ones. You also don't want your customer going online and finding out they can get the same thing for very little or free. So why just give away the roos? Customers get to feel that they are getting something extra with each sale. Free roosters create great customers that come back for more chicks or different breeds. You might even make a new friend giving someone a free rooster. :)

Interesting comments on the 'free roos' i don't know anyone around here who gives away roosters of this breed, no they are not 1K$ lol but considering the costs of feed and housing, i cannot see giving one away, now a paired deal so the cockerel/roo goes at a discount yes, but otherwise ? Admit tingly , i don't even know if i will ever breed with my guy but wanted the option so bought him as a chick to go along with my pullets.

The person selling for $140 is almost to KY line. There is someone else the other direction selling chick pairs for $35 so they are going to have a hard time getting $140. I can't get $40 for LF Choc Eng Orps LAYING pullets!
