A Bielefelder Thread !

Interesting, I did not know that and I raised Pheasants and wyandottes for years. How much slower for the brown egg to drop compare to a white egg ? Are we talking minutes, hours or day??

I would say for Marans egg productions you get 4-5 eggs a week as opposed to white leghorns that will lay everyday for 10 days.... but some of that has to do with breeding for better laying. Marans tend to lay in cycles, really well for a couple of months then slack off for a few months.

For those of you who process your cockerels, at what age do you get a broiler sized bird? Also, is the low feed efficiency for layers mostly when they are young and still growing?

I am in Tennessee near the Georgia end of the State. I am building my flock now but have about a dozen baby Bielefelder roosters for sale locally. Before long I'll have hatching eggs listed on eBay.

Hi,

I'd be interested in picking up some hatching eggs. Am in Northwest Georgia. Have been looking for Bielefelders in the area. Please PM me when you have some available.

My hatch went well. 3 pairs of Bielefelders . So 6 out of seven eggs hatched.10 CCL out of 12 eggs. Plus 5 black chickens out of 6 eggs.

Hi all,

I've got about 60 Bielefelder eggs in the incubator on day 5. Some are the 2011 import and some the 2013. I'm curious if anyone knows of another strain being imported this year or anytime soon?

I found a cockerel! Yea! In a couple of months I should be in full hatching mode! I have 2 more girls that should be coming online SOON too! WHAAAA WHOOOO! This has been the hardest breed to get in a long time LOL. One thing after another.
