I'm just starting to get eggs. Out of seven hens I'm getting 1 or 2 eggs a day. Hens were born March 24th.

That's awesome! My first Biel egg came in at 1.52 ounces, which I was thrilled with, but was shaped like a torpedo.I think your girl's doing great!
I have a matronly Cochin that's over a year old that a chicken friend gave me that just started laying two weeks ago and she has layed a consistent 5 days and then a day of rest since she started. The Biel layed the one egg Sunday and I'm still waiting on the next. New to all this lol I'm curious how long it'll take her to get "regular"
Compared to the Cochins medium roundish eggs, the Biel egg was very torpedo like
Only one of my Biels (Gidget) began laying at 24 weeks, and I'm still waiting on the other two to start, but I've been lucky when it comes to Gidget's "regularity". Since day one she has consistently laid an egg five out of seven days per week. I keep asking the other two girls when they will start earning their keep but all they'll do is lay at my feet and cluck affectionately. Charming little free-loaders.![]()
I just got the first egg from three hens at almost 27 weeks. Not that it matters, but I find it interesting that every place selling or detailing the Bielefelder has the same copied description mentioning "they start laying at a young age." That doesn't seem like a young age to me.
