Who knows if they are jealous or just want to be the first in line for treats.

Askew loves to perch on my arm while the others are in a feeding frienzy.

Either that, or they're just trying to find a way to get away from the noise.

Oh man...I'm being so mean to you tonight.

But I definitely agree, I talk to mine and play with them starting when they're chicks and they (usually) turn out liking to be handled. The hen I mentioned earlier was hand raised, but didn't do any good, she still hates being handled.

Either that, or they're just trying to find a way to get away from the noise.

I've got one who wants all the attention. She'll jump into my lap or fly up to my shoulder.

She'll peck at my hands if I'm petting any of the other girls or giving them a good scrach in return for an egg squat.

The clincher was the other night. I brought my attention grabbing BO into the house to say hi to my DH. We stopped in front of a mirror and looked at our reflection. She looked at herself and looked at my reflection and then in a nano-second reared around and BIT my lower lip. She got me good too. I think she thought I was giving attention to someone else and was jealous of her own reflection.

I'm afraid of the day when I try to introduce more chickens to her world.

Is askew's name because of her eeerr unusual feather arrangment on her back?

Sure is! I guess those two feathers are her version of a cowlick!
