A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I think we are gonna quarter cletis. He is a big old boy. I actually thought about cannin half of him for soup amd stews and pies. Kinda nervous cause i have not done meat before. But i want to learn... so this might just be the time.

Esther is the squatter.. one of the older bronze ladies... not that lil sg that i think you had eyes for. . Although she is lookin quite beautiful and has filled out nicely since comin here. She is neck and neck as far as size as road runner the lil bronze lady that is only a few months older than the newest two lil ladies. Both the sg and rp have grown quite a bit in the last monthish. And buster brown... he is a big boy too. But omg funny! His snood bugs him. Lol! So when he is tryin be all manly he flips and flops it to both sides of his face.... and i have seen him try beak wrestle it as well. He is pretty comical! Just in the last week i have noticed his head being more mottled and bright ly colored as well as his wattle and caruncles so so bright red and lovely.

I canned a breast from one this fall, first time I pressure canned anything... haven't tried it yet.
It will be interesting to see what colors you get from your birds :wee

I had a jake last year that wrestled his snood, he outgrew it , but it was so funny :gig

You guys will love this... I had an owl attack last night that took one of my dumb chickens that refuses to go into shelter at night. This morning, DS found the Toms munching on the remains of the owl, and the chicken. Guess every one loves chicken.
Good Toms :thumbsup on the owl.. poor stupid chicken.. out of the gene pool

Growing a beard!!! :celebrate (not me, my Tom) lol

I think Tommy may have to find a new home sooner than later. I kept him so that I could keep breeding the bourbon reds since they're pretty popular around here but he and Romeo are not getting along. Romeo is king of the coop but Tommy is bigger and knows it. They've been going at each other a lot lately. He's a beautiful boy, but this can't keep up. Maybe I'll make sure he gets a chance with the red ladies then list him for sale. We could eat him, but he's actually a really nice boy (to people anyway)

You should build a permanent pen for the bourbon reds and produce pure poults. You can make your money back rather quickly from that.

I have an aunt who cans meat. I've never tried it, but they love it.

I agree with Dheltzel....build Tommy his own pen with his own harem.
