A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

OK we may be crazy turkey peopleView attachment 1494716 this is sheldon.....he/she hatched last night buthat was "turtling"( getting stuck on back) this morn, so we bundled it up and took it to church so we could keep an eye on it. So far it is still alive and as of a few minutes ago keeping upright in the bator much better than it was. It is mostly resting and I am not holding my breath that it will live, but it has a chance. Oh and another one hatched when we arrived home so it now has a friend.

Puny! That opossum story was rough first thing in the morning!! LOL!

Noticed all birds preening activity has picked up. Maybe molt is just around the corner. Daisy was sitting on my chairs arm continuously preening this morning. Even reached over & gave my hair a try. Blah...

Back to hot & humid. Need some rain too. However, being so dry allows the girls to take luxurious dust baths. I love watching the turkeys....they spend time arranging things just so...then practically flip upside down throwing dust everywhere. Annie can spend hours in a good spot. She's a pro. Daisy reminds me of that Peanuts character Pig Pen...she isn't great about shaking out the dust...she always manages to save some to shower me with when she hops on my chair.

We are havin snood pullin contests in the turk pen this mornin. One poor dude got his arse handed to him by every lil tom in there.... which is four. Then leetle man turk decided he gonna try again today to be a brave fluffed up baloon... so long as head man turk cannot see him. :lau. He is HILARIOUS! He will get right behind head honcho and poof and strut but not gobble. He walks round like the basketball he is lookin over he shoulder for big man to forget that he is on a bug hunt. Then leetle turk acts all suave like he was preenin.

only one of my poults has strutted one time that I seen, the head man took 2 steps towards him and he deflated. So far no snood pulling, but the oldest are started to chase the roos and bossy hens. They have lots of room to get away.

Yea. Leetle poof man deflates as soon as big turk even remotely lifts his head from the bug hunt. He is tryin so hard to be a big turk... but it not happenin. Lol! He may get his wish though... big man is from my bbb and the rp tom i think. He is huge but proportionately huge not the breasted out big. I still think i wanna keep leetle man poof cause he is all heritage even if he is a mutt. And he is a nice lookin lil dude. The other lil toms really dont display much unless somethin scares everyone then poof four gobblin balloons... then big turk is ok with it only for a few seconds.
