I have been finding a random turkey egg in the run fairly regularly. Today I got to see the culprit. One of the Sweetgrass hens was walking strangely and would nearly squat at every step. On the third step she again semi squatted, dropped her egg and kept on going, never missing a beat or even showing any interest in the egg.

It is her first year laying and is probably about week 3 for her. It is like she does not realize she is laying an egg.

No interest in the egg? That is odd. Egg laying here can get rather dramatic.

Road runner has decided she wants to be a mama now. We have to run her off the daily deposits every night for the last three nights. I let the sg have a dozen eggs... havent candled them for fear of blood loss from the big snake. So we are kinda undecided on lettin rr sit or not. That would only leave me two hens layin. Ugh. I also have one chicken hen sittin eight eggs. Gonna candle hers tonight. One of my bcm has been satan for four days in a nest in the chicken coop... now one of my lil bantams has decided to fluff up and be a lil trex tonight. Dang hens! Lol. Dont they know i need fifteen dozen eggs for easter sunday breaky at church.?!?! Lol!

Eta... had only given the snake eleven eggs.... 10 are growin.. Made it out alive but not unscathed. Mean ole snake. Then candled chicken hen.... only four were growin. Hmmmm. But it is ok cause i already have chicks for replacers this year. I only let her sit cause i was tired of fightin her.
