A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Looks like Mama turkey is going broody, she was in a box all day except for a break. Her daughter, that I had to shag in one night, was sitting under the barbwire and grapevine at dusk. I came up from behind and slowly put an old tee-shirt over her and that worked great. :yesss: Stuffed her into a 4x4 box, I'll see if she finds the eggs in there.

It is her first year laying and is probably about week 3 for her. It is like she does not realize she is laying an egg.
I am finding an turkey egg every couple days in the chanticler pen... which happens to be the one hens favorite trampoline spot..

I am wondering if she jumps the egg out and forgets it.. there is no way into the pen for her.

@duluthralphie sorry to hear about the polka dot poult.
@Bantambird did the Wyoming roadtrip go well.
@Molpet and @sfgwife nice to hear some hens are going broody for you all. Please keep that virus contained as I'm not ready for that yet.
@memphis that is terrible about that cassowary. So see ralphie is not too far off saying his turkeys are ready for him to stumble and pick the flesh from his bones. :lau

This cold weather snap must have put my birds on strike for egg laying have really slacked last couple days. Wasnt able to get anything sold due circumstances over the weekend. So since I have a cabinet going I set almost 40 turkey eggs last night.

Looks like some snow maybe this morning. But then mid 70s for next week.

Got home late last night, most of the snow was already gone, but there was still an impressive drift in front of the chicken run.

Candled my turkey eggs today, 3 out of 4 of Jackie's showed development. None of the shipped eggs looked good. They were packed awful and took too long to get here, so I wasn't optimistic anyhow.
Jackie has started laying 2 days in a row, taking a day off, then 2 days. It's hard not to set every egg she lays.
