A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

It was 49 here this morning and about 68 here now. The past two days we actually had the heat on. It was down to high 30s at one point. Everything is a huge muddy mess right now. The turkeys are wading in mud and have it down their chests. I feel bad. It's so gross! The yard is soggy no matter where you step. It was beautiful and sunny today but I think it will be raining again tomorrow :(

Pebbles, Princess, and Lil are happy raising their 3 little cockerels. I think they'd be ok now if I took their babies to the next swap.

Sweet Pea is still in hard Molt. Nowhere near as bad as last year but still bad enough that I felt bad and took her saddle off so her new feathers have more room to grow in.

I got one of those memory things on Facebook (if you're on there, you know what I'm talking about). It seems that 4 years ago today, Pebbles hatched so today is Pebbles birthday! Happy birthday Pebbles! That means that Eve and Sweet Pea's birthday was last week.

Happy Birthday Pebbles! And Eve & Sweet Pea! Wish I knew my girls birthdays. Like a lot of ladies, they don't want to talk about their ages.
Rjohns....close to 100 here too. Pulled out the fans. The girls parked themselves in front of them before I could even get them turned on. They may not be able to count, but they sure have good memories. As soon as I set the fans down they plopped themselves in front of them. No....they aren't spoiled. I've said this before, the cold down here doesn't bother me, but the heat scares me. And boy this coonhound is a creature of comfort too! If its chilly, he uses his blankie. Now that it's getting hot, he sprawls in front of the a/c.

Oh...keep forgetting to mention this....my Golden Nuggets have been in for a few weeks now. They grow on either side of my front door. Betting yet again none will make it into the house. Is there anything better than a sun warmed tomato? Well...maybe a hen hug!

I have to buy fans this weekend to cool the birds in the greenhouse. I've bought high end industrial fans and cheap box fans and they all have about the same life expectancy. So why spend $200 on a fan that will die the same time as a $10 fan? Local store has a special this weekend, $6 per fan. I'm gonna stock up.

Annabelle is eggbound. I've given her an Epsom salt bath and lubed up her vent with petroleum jelly. I might go take her to the vet's tomorrow if she's still hanging in there, but mom and I could both feel an egg sitting there. She's been acting weird lately and I figured it out before it killed her so maybe we can help her lay that egg before it's too late... She is a burbon red hen, she's turning 4 this year so she's still pretty young. I'm thinking perhaps we can get extra calcium into her at the veterinarian office. We will see! I'm just hoping we can get her well!

I hope she can pass the egg and gets better. I'm glad you figured out what was wrong.
