I am up to 12 racoons removed and at least one more I seen this morning.
and the stupid turkey hens have started new nests out in the poultry yard

That's the million dollar question! Now that Mr. Coon knows where he can get an easy chicken for dinner, he may never leave

About 12:45 I was mowing the bottom and a raccoon came from by the poultry yard right towards me. It stopped and sniffed and turned north, then it started going in circles. I left the mower and when I got back with the pistol it was still going in circles. A yearling female about the same size as the male I got this morning...so this is 13 so far.

Sounds like it had something neurological going on. Perhaps even rabies. Glad you are taking care of the coon problem. We struggle with opossums taking the older birds and rats killing young grow outs in the grow out pens! This is despite the presence of our LGDs but our dogs are in a fenced in area of our property and don't have access to patrol the rest of our property where some of our chickens are.
