My son just sent me a text and told me My turkeys beards are coming in. He can fill it right under the feathers.
Man I can't wait to get home. They are just a smidgen over 4 months.

Having a hot week here so I gave the birds some vitamin & electrolytes in there cold water today. So hot and humid for next few days will give them some big frozen zucchinis and cabbages tomorrow to give them some relief. Big frozen vegie sickles

I've got 4 successful broody turkeys out there. 3 have formed their own co-parenting group, although the blue palm hen gets snippy at the blue bronze hen. At this time they are co raising 18 poults, and woe be upon any other bird that comes near three momma turkeys. Wing punching hurts! The 4th just hatched on independence day so I put them into the broody pen to get used to life.

Fox ate 3 other nesting turkeys, unfortunately. Still haven't caught the turd, but hopefully soon.

I have a broody pile here... and Phil has joined lol. Every evening when I go in to tuck everyone in for the night, Princess, Pebbles, Baby, Sky and now Phil are all in a pile in the back corner of the coop. Every one of those dummys are panting like crazy. Occasionally, Nibbles and Cynthia join the group too. Now that Pebbles is in it though, I know I'm going to have trouble.... she doesn't quit :/

My turkeys love roast beef. My son cooked a big roast with all the fixing and I gave the left overs to the turkeys, chickens, and ducks. Was such a big roast even the dogs and cats got some. I love a good family dinner.
