A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ralph....you were driving through the delta! Big rice & cotton country. If you had been here a month ago the whole delta is white. Cotton everywhere. It's cool looking!

Heck....you could have met Big Betty!

I think she is pretty too. She huge...almost 7 pounds. She is 6 years old and is still laying a couple eggs a week. She's the lead hen here. Even the turkeys respect her!

Ralph, you must be having turkey withdrawal! Are you taking bets on how lkng Ethel will be bending your ear when you get home?

What did Porter say about Ginger?

Congrats on the first egg! They can sound like aliens! They make the oddest noises sometimes. Their vocalizations are so varied. Wish I understand turkey talk better!

I just want to know what's going on in that little brain, the way she looks at me and the sounds she makes are just plain neat. She sounds like a old vacuum tube radio warming up or tuning in a different station.

Her first egg was a soft shell it cracked as soon as I grabbed it but that has been my experience even with my few chickens I've raised. I plan on getting her some lay pellets to add to her vitamin intake. She stole a bite of my burger this evening guess she wanted to see what home grown grass fed beef tasted like, guess next year I'll have to pick out a beef for her and Jupiter too

Wow, she IS big! I have 1 SS that I speed from a neighbor when they got rid of ask their chickens. She's 5 years old, very small and dainty with twisted toes and doesn't lay at all lol. Penny is a sweet heart though and of all the chickens they had, she was the only one that was a pet. They just could keep just one chicken. So she hangs out here, patrols the coop, supervises the nest boxes, and every once in a while ventures out to free range for a while (she never free ranged till she moved in with us)
