I have to get my new boy Coconut off the fence rail every night because that's where he decided he wanted to go every evening at dusk. The first few nights I tried to get my arm over his back to "lift" him as I would if he were on the ground. It worked a couple times when I was able to pin his wings down to his sides, and use my other hand to support his breast and feet. But usually I wasn't that neat about it, so I got wing flapped in the face. He and I both figured out we didn't like that routine, so then one night he jumped off the rail to get away from me. Now I always just push up on his legs to make him stand, and then bug him until he's had enough and jumps off by himself. Then I herd him into the pen. Getting flapped in the face by turkey wings does hurt more than chicken wings!
