A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Well I'm glad to know it's a bronze for sure! Okay - silly question now, what's a cowl? Re-counted weeks, my best guess is 17 weeks old. I heard one gobble-type noise when DH was gobbling really loud at it. And we had one big tail fan-out. No strutting and no self-initiated noises (only little chirps).

Well, I'm hoping for a hen, but would be absolutely fine with my sweetie being a tom. I didn't know it would be so hard to tell STILL, my patience ran out weeks ago lol :)

Welcome to my world! I was sold a hen in April but turned out to be a Tom just Saturday. I asked a simple question about gobbling and now Duluthralphie has a mark on his record for being wrong once. (Sorry, Dude.) The whole beard thing threw me too. I thought it was some kind of tumor!

I totally agree (not that I have much experience though)! That is why I went out and checked on Dinner. He had a little snood for a really long time. Apparently his just grew overnight. I hadn't noticed how much longer it had gotten!
I was also noticing the cowl. I didn't know if that meant much, as I only have my little 16 week Tomahawk to judge by. But when I look at the other two, both of which I am convinced without a doubt to be toms, her little cowl is so much more dainty. She is just more dainty, in general.

Anyhow, FeistyChick, you should look on the legs for spur bumps.

CharmedBaker, I liked Grady. El Gordo is good too. I have to agree with Ralph, even though I don't get his reference, I don't like Grayson as much. Doesn't seem like a turkey name to me. But that is just me. I had a silkie hen named Clyde. Maybe you shouldn't take my advice.

Dick Grayson was the "secret Identity of "Robin" , Batman's sidekick..

Well now I know. I didn't pay much attention to the movie. Or read comics.

When I was a kid we never had movies, except the silent ones and I never got into them,. so I read comics... BTW We really had a Black and white TV, we got it when I was in first grade and we had 3 channels on it!

We had a color tv, but no cable or anything, also with just 3 channels! I didn't watch much tv. We still don't have cable. We do watch Netflix and AmazonPrime, but only in the winter really.

Okay, what is a cowl?? I thought I had deciphered most of the turkey lingo...but I missed this one :).

I will check for for spur bumps when I get home tonight....I looked a week or so ago and didn't see any but will definitely check again. At this age they change so fast, it is a real possibility!

The cowl I think is the red bumps on the neck and up,

I think it is wishful thinking, but heck we all know I was proven wrong once, so my reputation is shot to double hockey sticks.
