A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I guess I can tell your a bit addicted. lol
My DH does not know what to think since I have cut back so much and only have poults that we are growing out for now. But I have a bator going with a few sweet's in it!

Wow Feedman... Lots going on at your farm, hope you find the missing hen and poults!

We spent the weekend building the finishing pen for the 7-9 week old poults, Had them in the grow out pen but kept watching them fly over the six foot fence, knew we needed to get them secured soon. Clipped wings and moved them to their own pen. 12 Poults and 5 chicken pullets were moved, lots of green grass and separated from the adults by chicken wire.

We noticed none of them were roosting under heat lamps so felt it was safe to move them, staying in the mid 40's over night and so far they are all using the ladder roost and doing great!

Got two incubators filled with BR eggs, the first round due to hatch this weekend and then every weekend after that. Started saving eggs and leaving them in the brooder box, as of yesterday 13 were out there waiting for hen to decide when enough was enough... She wasn't in the main coop last night, hoping she decided to start sitting, she was out waiting for scratch this morning but when I was done with chores wasn't out with the others, didn't want to disturb her by checking but hoping she was back on the nest.

All potential poults in the incubators are sold, planning on allowing the hen to raise what she can... Now need to figure out the hen that lays in the coop, thinking I might allow her to try and set in there, funny to watch her every night to wait for the chicken mommas to get settled down with chicks and then go and help keep them warm.. She is persistent that she sleep with the babies

Congrats on your poults. Good luck on your hatching eggs and your hen going broody. Has been hectic week. Spent most of yesterday rebuilding pens. Didn't get done quick enough. My decision to leave hens out for night was costly. Lost all hens that weren't in a pen to coyotes last night. 2 blue slates and 2 bourbon hens. 15 poults. No more outside nests for me.

Oh my!! Feedman that's horrible, I am so sorry for your loss!! I don't know what I would do if we lived in an area with high predator loss. We worry about hawks around here but knock on wood, haven't suffered much this year so far..

This is not turning out to be a good season for you. I am so sorry to hear of all the challenges.

When you get your pens rebuilt and need some turkey eggs for hatching, if you want some Narragansett eggs let me know and I will send your way (provided the girls are still at work).

i will have some poults for sale and im not too far from you feed man. put in some narragansetts eggs last night. might have some royal palms hatch out thursday. and will have some bronze/wild and narragansett/wild cross hatching tomorrow. will have some rio eggs hatching this weekend but they are not for sale at this point.

Well, Hen who likes to lay in box on the back of the property I think has decided 13 is her magic number.. Hasn't been off the nest except for early this morning.... Here is hoping she wants to go for it

Lost a few poult hens last year to coyotes. My biggest problem was great horned owls and bald eagles.

Walnut thanks so much. When you get what you need and have any extra eggs let me know.

Cody walker I am possibly interested in some palms will pm you.

On the upside don't know how she got away. With the mount of feathers I found figured no way.

But a bourbon red hen with 3 poults was in the pasture about 5 min. Ago. Still had all poults.
