He's a black Spanish. I LOVE this bird so much. He is a complete pet. The other day I was sitting out in the field watching the horses and he came up and flopped down next to me for a few minutes. When he got up, he stepped up on my lap, snuggled down and fell asleep in my arms. Full on, neck flopped back sleep. I didn't have my phone so I couldn't get my mom out to take a picture. Lol. I can't get over this bird. Why haven't I had turkeys before? :) <3

I hear you - I got my first turkeys (and chickens) this year and think they are the best pets ever! I like them better than DH's dogs (don't tell him that tho lol). I have a 5 month old standard bronze and 4 baby bourbon reds - they have been so much fun.

Your guy is beautiful - have you had him long?

Nice looking bird.

I know if I had to give up chickens or turkeys the chickens would go. Turkeys have so much personality and really seem to like people, Chickens are more like cats, they can live with or without a human, as long as the human brings them food.
 
He has just turned 4months old. I got him and another from the feed store at a few days old. She ate something she should not have on one of our adventures outside and I couldn't save her.

It made me sad. Out of all the creatures I have raised, these wanted a momma more than anything. I did my best to be a good surrogate. They were the snuggliest little things and the other was even friendlier than he was. They would have slept with me if I had let them. His favorite spot was under my chin. Hers was under my arm in my jacket.
 
My dear turkey friends. I need help...
I can't understand my DH.

My birthday is coming up in a few days. I have mentioned several times I wanted new stools for the bar at the kitchen counter. I sent him the link to the ones I want.

Tonight, while I was slaving away in the kitchen, he asked if I would be heartbroken if the stools didn't show up and if something else did.

With a perfectly serious tone and face, I said, "Well, I may not be heartbroken. But you know who will be?! The turkeys. They really had their hearts set on new roosting stools to enjoy while I feed them treats from the kitchen."

He got up and left. What?! Why was he so miffed?!

Must be because he isn't sleeping well since the turkeys took his spot in the bed...
