Yes makes sense. But lets add to the confusion some here. If dominant "genes" aren't always passed why are they considered dominant "genes"?
If they are passed down, the turkeys color most likely will be that color. Example: Bb looks like a black turkey but secretly has bronze(recessive)
 
Well, dang, unless hen turkeys have a beard, that dinghy thing on their beaks dangle when they Fluff and strut, both of my Blue Slates are Toms so it back to calling them Mo and Curly I'm thinking about changing Larry's name to Loretta. ..
 
Well Ron, I actually have a Bourbon Red hen with a beard. My girls will also display on occasion. Are they gobbling? Hens don't gobble. And hens have little snoods. How old are they?
