A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ralph - that does not sound like a good idea for Ginger (sounds darned uncomfortable if you ask me) - he just need a home where no one cares about his small eyes! I hope someone takes him as a pet!!

Aurora - you be in trouble girl..... incubator addiction..... you can never have just one :gig THIS is the reason that I do not dare buy one (I would be joining you on the buying secret eggs, bad wife list lol)

BTW, Just so everyone knows Ginger is not an angel..

I was gone at Turkey bed time, so I asked my wife to give them some "treats" and they would run into the pen. She did. They did. All except one.

I got a text saying I have all the turkeys in the pen except one, guess which one.

I knew it would be Penguin or Ginger. Penguin normally is one of the first ones anywhere there is food. SO I guessed Ginger.

She wanted to know how I knew.

I told her I know my turkeys.

She told me she chased him around the outside of the pen a dozen times. He would stop at the door look at in and go by it. She was not happy..

I used the old landing net trick and put Ginger to bed when I got home.

He keeps switching between near Lapper to Belly button. Tonight my DW will not mind if Ginger is no more.

The adventures of putting turkeys to bed  Mine have FINALLY learned that when they see me coming to the barn, they need to be heading inside. I just go in and close the door for them. The chickens always come inside if they hear you in the barn - which makes it really easy, the turkeys were a little more difficult and needed more treats to get that figured out

Amazon is a dangerous website - I just discovered all the poultry supplies and "stuff" on there.....yikes.....I hope DH isn't looking when the boxes start rolling in :p

Just got a call from my chicken sitter. Tornadoes in Memphis. Apparently one touched down in Clarksdale Mississippi. 40 miles south of Memphis. Any blues fans out there may know the significance of Clarksdale. That's were Robert Johnson sold his sole to the devil. But, back to my birds! My chicken sitter got there just as it was blowing in. Apparently all the chickens had gone to their coop. Good girls! However when they saw her they left the coop & tried to run toward her in 40-50 mph winds. She said it looked like a yard of feathered tumbleweeds. She got them all back in the coop. They are all ok. She's ok. But she was hysterical on the phone laughing so hard. She wishes she had a video. Said it was the funniest thing she's seen in awhile.
My turkeys were in their run, on a roost, just watching all the action. She said they were pretty zen about it all. Figures....

Fiesty...we must stand in solidarity! Fight the urge to buy an incubator. I would be up to my eyeballs in birds if I owned one. It scares me!

Ralphie...you gotta do what's right with Ginger. My dogs go through stringent health checks prior to any breeding. For their whole life really. And yes, I've had my heart broken by a few I just loved but weren't going to make the grade. It's tough but if you care about the breed you do what's right.

So when is Coffee becoming a turkey moma?

Memphis-id be terrified to hear a tornado was nearby! But then again, I live in the mountains and they're pretty rare here. I can only imagine chicken tumbleweeds blowing across the yard though lol. Glad she got them all back in safely!
