A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ralph-I hope you're not really getting sick. I just got over it but spent the last 2 1/2 days in a chair, covered in blankets, with a stuffed miserable head and really sore throat. No fun at all. Hope you feel better!

Its the same with dogs. AKC recognizes different "varieties" within a specific breed. For example: Beagle is a recognized breed of dog with two varieties - 1 3inch and 15 inch. Dachshund is a breed of dog with several recognized varieties - smooth, long hair, wire hair and under 11 pounds.

So a turkey is a turkey divided by variety....

I only recognize 3 breeds of dogs, Large, Real and FooFoo's. They are further broken down into Varrities:

Large dogs
a) Mean
b) worthless
c) drooling mutts

Real Dogs to be a real dog it must hunt with a human.
a) Labs
b) Not lab

FooFoo's
a) worthless
b) Utterly worthless

I think the varieties are self explanatory.

Well, I guess one bennifit of the warm weather is the weeds are growing. Got home in time to take the girls for a stroll to my next door neighbors backyard to eat clover & all kinds of fun stuff growing. My neighbor is 87. She bundled up & came out to see the flock. Of course the turkeys love to meet people. The chickens could care less.

I am getting sick, But Grandpa's sure cure is helping!

Ginger did nothing to help his lot in life today! I have decided the genetic eye problem he might have is contagious. I had him and 3 hens that refused to go into the pen tonight. They walked by the door 50 times! They looked at it and went beyond it. What a terrible time it was.

On the 51st time he looked at the door and me as if to say "Oh, you want me to go in there?"...... Bellybutton!!

The three hens took another 50 times. I decided those will be Coffees 3 hens...

Recipe for Grandpa's sure cure

Fill a glass with ice ( bigger the glass the better)

add 3 parts Yukon Jack peppermint schnapps
one part Cinnamon liqueur
once part peppermint liqueur

It looks so pretty and helps the throat so much... Warning do not drink alcohol while using this recipe..

Ralphie. ..consider the possibility that Ginger just wants to spend time with you!

Daisy just laid another egg. Went to tuck them in & she was on her nest. Picked up Annie to give her some lap time without Daisy pulling her tail. And....plop.....she was done with the egg & ran over to be pesty about another bird in my lap. Daisy owns me I guess.

Anybody else think their hens are close to laying?

Ginger will get to spend weeks close to us. our bedroom is right above the freezers, so he will be 8-10 feet from us!

Haha, close to laying? We've passed that point!

Aurora, your hens are overachievers!! Annie is still in hard molt, but Daisy is laying away.

I was just wondering if Ralph, R2elk or Feedman think their hens will start laying early. They are in a lot colder climate.

Chaos...good for T-Bone! Did you decide to go look at the black hens?
