I've never found poults hard to raise at all. I've always had them with chicks to teach them, but they are more trainable than chicks. If I pick up feed between my fingers, only the poults rush over to peck at it. If I so much as point closely to the feed, they get so excited and start eating it eagerly even though I saw them picking at it causally like the chicks only moments earlier. Then there is the fact that with a little attention they want more, so the tame ones come to me even at a week old and stand still while I slide my hand under them and lift them up. The chicks never do that. That's why I tell my customers that chicks are the "gateway drug" to turkey poults, LOL. Once you've raise a poult, the chicks just seem so "ordinary".
