A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Queenie has made it abundantly clear that she's going to be a handful. Lots of fun and loving but a handful no less. I mean seriously, who ever heard of a 3 day old poult strutting? I had her out playing with her, trying to kiss her beak while she was running around trying to peck my lips (I can only guess what your imagining right now) but 3 times, she randomly stopped and dropped her wings into the most adorable little strut you can imagine! Then she finally got tired, crawled up my shoulder and into my hair and went to sleep lol. What a little stinker! I'm fairly sure that she's a she since her legs are very skinny and she has a miniscule little snood but she's definitely very active, goofy, and smart.

It has been my experience that very young poults that strut are precocious toms. I have never had a hen strut and display at a very young age but I certainly have had little toms do it and yes they are adorable when they strut at that age.

Love all the pics!

Mr. T and Mabel calles in a flock of 16 turkeys yesterday! Those Easterns are beautiful! Its to bad we are turkey hunters... We hunt at a place about 25 miles from here so they r safe.

For birds that show some intelligence, they sure can be stupid!

Aurora if you are taking bets and giving odds, I will put 5 on the poult being a boy.......... While I lack R2Elk's experience I have never seen a baby hen strut.

Beings you are with the turkey I want 20-1 odds from you. Just send me the $100 now, and if I am wrong I will return it to you.

Yikes, whatever made her think to lay her eggs there?

My poults are hatching! One is entirely out of the egg; another is pipping at the moment. Not sure what to do about water, though. I'm afraid that if I put marbles in the tray, the mom won't be able to dip her beak in enough to drink. Any ideas?

Since you guys are very certain that he's a boy, we've changed his name to Prince. Hubby actually got to see the little strut this morning and had to laugh :)
