Quote: Still not a single one. Took a look, most were non-starters but a few seemed to quite half-way through. So I have a brooder with nothing in them. May have to go to tractor supply for chick therapy. I was looking forward to having turkeys, though.
Queenie has made it abundantly clear that she's going to be a handful. Lots of fun and loving but a handful no less. I mean seriously, who ever heard of a 3 day old poult strutting? I had her out playing with her, trying to kiss her beak while she was running around trying to peck my lips (I can only guess what your imagining right now) but 3 times, she randomly stopped and dropped her wings into the most adorable little strut you can imagine! Then she finally got tired, crawled up my shoulder and into my hair and went to sleep lol. What a little stinker! I'm fairly sure that she's a she since her legs are very skinny and she has a miniscule little snood but she's definitely very active, goofy, and smart.
It has been my experience that very young poults that strut are precocious toms. I have never had a hen strut and display at a very young age but I certainly have had little toms do it and yes they are adorable when they strut at that age.
For birds that show some intelligence, they sure can be stupid!
Aurora if you are taking bets and giving odds, I will put 5 on the poult being a boy.......... While I lack R2Elk's experience I have never seen a baby hen strut.
Beings you are with the turkey I want 20-1 odds from you. Just send me the $100 now, and if I am wrong I will return it to you.
