You know, I've had a brilliant idea for a small gps tracking device to attach to flock member's legs and computer program to track them for problems like this (and predator attacks). I just don't know where to start with it lol. In my mind, the program would allow you to track each bird individually to see where they are and have been throughout the day to be able to find hidden nests, point of attack by predators, as well as where predator dens are if they take their catch back with them. Ideally, it wouldn't be any bigger than a zip tie or NPIP band attached to their legs.
Maybe you should put a steel band around her leg and set yourself up with a metal detector with headphones!I tried a tracking device on Ethel last year. The problem was me. My hearing is not good enough to hear the beeps and know when I am getting closer. I could only hear it if I was standing on top of her.
