Hi! This is my first post in this thread, I think I royally messed up on my turkey order this year. We have 20 BBW coming next week, they will be about 13 weeks old by Thanksgiving. NOW of course, I remember they are supposed to be 22 weeks old to get a layer of fat under the skin.... Literally the week before they come. I could die.
Is there anything I can do to help them out for their last couple of weeks?

The farm I buy feed from sells non-gmo soybean oil by the gallon, and non-gmo cracked corn, I would prefer an Omega3 source of fat but have easy access to those. I also have a 40b bag of Black Oil Sunflower Seeds I bought a couple of weeks ago just because it was a good price (HA!) Or if it would work I would be happy to buy flax seed oil or ground flax seed, or whatever anyone can recommend. They will be free range and have access to clover, pasture grass, timothy grass (which is fattening) and bluegrass if they want.

Some of them can go to Christmas, and we can probably keep a few to 22 weeks, but I'm so upset about ruining Thanksgiving!

Last year we got them in June, and all I can remember is that the 30-40lb boys were fighting so bad by October we couldn't handle it. So I adjusted my order this year to be more females, and just enough time to reach a low weight by T-day, but obviously....I messed up.

If Big bird catches and kills the rabbit he would be extremely valuable!  I have so many rabbits here I need dead I would hire him for a week or two.

dip mr rabbit in flour. Fry him up. Then smother him down in a pan of brown gravy and let him simmer for a while. Serve him up on a bed of rice. DELICIOUS

Brown gravy is any gravy that comes out brown. Beef, pork and bunnies can make brown gravy.

Hills? Really ralphie and Holm? When I went to visit you guys, your horizon line was as flat as a pancake to me... but then again, in Montana you are never too far from the mountains. Your hills... are like cute little baby hills.

They are baby hills compared to yours. BUT they are not North Dakota flat either.

Oh we have way more mosquitoes than that! The good thing is a month from now it will have froze and the mosquitoes will be gone.

Wow, that stinks..

First welcome to the thread. Your going to have really skinny turkey at thanksgiving. I do not know anything you can do to speed up the weight gain.

As far as the fighting goes, they are turkeys, turkeys play snood pulling games all the time. They are cool but do have a few bad habits. They even draw a little blood now and then, but they seldom really hurt each other.

Try not to judge them on human terms. Judge them as turkeys. You should have lots of Easter Turkeys though!

So far Big Bird doesn't appear to be wanting to actually "catch" the bunny - so no brown gravy and I can't hire out my birds for pest control yet

Feisty...having just returned from the great northern plains, i can attest to the mosquito population!

Im telling you....Big Bird is playing with the bunny!! Mine love to play chase!!
