A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ugg...egg eaters. The rollaway boxes are a good idea. I would imagine if they can't get to the egg, over time it would break the habit. Not sure what to do with turkeys. Hope its a fluke too.

Is egg eating a habit that can spread through a flock? Is there a reason hens start that?

Bummer about your hen Ralph.

I would imagine eggs are delicious to them as much as to us, and birds don't have any social restrictions on what they eat. They have no morals, the heathens.

I bet that if I made them roll away nests, they wouldn't use them anyway but if I can't break this, I'm going to have to try it. We'll see what happens.

Ralph-I bet she heard you say off with her head and she decided to take her chances!

No,biggie she was headed to the freezer.

Egg eating is a learned habit. Mine learned it at a bird show and I was not smart enough to catch it. I let it spread.

Do you know how hard it is to install a rollaway nest in the SS pen? I had 6 chickens helping me. One of them grabbed the foam strip the eggs roll into and took off running. She likes being chased.

I had birds crawling all over me also. SS are almost too friendly.

Admit it Ralph...you enjoy the SS "helping"! LOL! They can be a bit pesty. Your right, they are the most turkey-ish acting chickens.

I actually have to lock up the SS when I'm working in the garden. I can't dig a hole without the whole crew jumping in. I'll plant something & they'll help by unplanting it. But they are great for hen hugs!

Ralph - I can just picture all the "help" you had working in the pen. My bourbons all need to "help" with anything I try to do....construction, car work, cleaning . Hopefully Snitch and the tom figure out how to make the dating thing work :)

Aurora - the new poults are super cute. I'm going to live vicariously through you all again this year and try not to get any babies LOL

Holm - Mr T is looking good, you definitely need to get him some ladies soon!

Well all my birds are laying again now - they took most of two months off, so good to have eggs again. Big Bird is laying about every other day now, so the season has definitely started here :). The birds had a good weekend again....lots of running free time!

Feisty, are you going to let Big Bird hatch a few babies? Maybe let her have a date or two with one of the Bourbon boys?

Ralph, I'm still chucking over you trying to get some work done with SS sitting all over you. Sort of reminds me of an old Far Side comic.

Speaking of chickens...how are the Buttercups Feisty?
