That is exciting the pens are ready and the birds in them. Questions: Why did you not want the mating that took place? Weather getting nice here also, my hens are starting to lay so I have fresh eggs for eating. Wanting my guineas to lay but they haven't yet.

Some of us like to control who breeds with whom.

We do it to get colors we want or to keep lines pure. A turkey mating has the problem of screwing up the works for 2 months.

However, I know some people say last in first out...BUT there is also some that think a turkey hen can keep the sperm of the tom she wants and dump the rest. SO control matings is the way to go.

Aurora, those are awesome Poult pictures. Makes me want to set turkey eggs. I have 4 from Swan now. It would be five but my daughter ate one before I could tell her I was saving them.

So just for fun, I ran Cinnamon (Bourbon Red tom) and Swan (Lavender Palm) through Porter's calculator, and then ran it again using what their F1 offspring would be (Bb',Ccg,Dd,Nn,Rr) (Just N- for the females) Oh my Goodness you wouldn't believe the list of colors that would make! I scrolled forever! I totally need to hatch these eggs and breed them next year!

One of the gals in the neighborhood stopped by after her walk yesterday evening. She had bright blue tennies on and blue nail polish. Annie was totally godsmacked ! Poor girl was trying to talk about splitting up with her boyfriend & Annie couldn't help completely inspecting her shoes & nails. So what I thought was going to be a teary conversation ended up with us laughing about Annie.
