A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Yes, I was trying to teach the coon to swim ... in a trap. The coon was the first invader. Got it out & secured the entfy. Years latter it was the rats. They developed their own entry point. Haven't had any roommates in years....knock on wood!!

So I noticed that many people that post in this thread have been BYC members for a long time, but don't have any of the greeter, friend, spirit, and educator badges. Do any of you nominate every month?

I've nominated folks several times but I had no idea it was a monthly thing...thanks for the reminder

One can nominate four people per month, and awards are announced quarterly.

Can I nominate myself for something? Can I make up my own award...

Something like " greatest guy alive award" I would like to show the award to the WWD,,She has trouble believing me when I tell her I am...

Looks like your attic needed vermin proofed.  Raccoons are excellent swimmers unless they are being assisted in their "swimming".

This winter I had a Northern Flicker make an entrance into my attic.  I repaired the hole as soon as I found it.  Of course all the insulation on the ground gave it away.

I had a Northern Flicker accost my metal chimney cap several years in a row. At first I thought it was a little bird caught in the chimney, as this happened occasionally when I was a kid and the birds would flap frantically about in there trying to get out, but the Flicker was just tapping on the chimney to get the attention of a certain lady Northern Flicker.

At times my brother would visit in the fall. He would get up and ask who was knocking at the door. I told him is wasn't anyone just the Northern Flicker banging on the side of the house. On a really rare occasion it would be a Downy Woodpecker.

How many days is the earliest I should candle? Tonight is 5 days for Ralphie's eggs. I took a quick peek Monday night when I was setting some other eggs and I had my candler handy, but I didn't see anything. That was only at 3 days then, so I keep telling myself to wait until Friday and not worry.

We have a bunch of woodpeckers here. I rather like them. My house is brick tho....

And they are still slogging through the swamps down here looking for that Ivory Billed Woodpecker that is suposed to be extinct. Supposedly they've heard it, but no pictures/video or concrete proof.
