A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I noticed that too. We are in the clear here. But central Missouri got wacked last night....
Feedman...you okay over there? Hope the tornadoes missed ya!!

I might be giving up my licensed Hatchery.

I have a "new Inspector" this year. I just got off the phone with her.

She went large primate excrement crazy on me. She asked what species I had. I told her I have guineas, turkeys and chickens.

She asked if they were housed separately. I told her I was getting rid of the guineas because of the bio security risk they are with their traveling and the neighbors birds.

I told her the turkeys and chickens are together most of the year, I have breeding pens but even then I keep some chickens and turkeys together. She said I had to separate them and not free range them.

I told her I would give up the NPIP and the hatchery before I do that. It is not like I get rich on my hatchery stuff. When I go to a sale I have people that never test and have no concept of bio-security or any idea if they have a disease or not.

It will mean I stop selling across state lines, It will not bother me that much. I am glad she called today I was just ready to leave the house and get several thousand dollars worth of lumber and hardware. At least she called before I left.

I could not get a good reason the turkeys and chickens coule not be raised together considering I test them quarterly....

Oh Well,,, It was fun while it lasted,,

I have a call in to the state vet now. awaiting her answer...

Is it my Mother or an aunt of mine? They are always telling people my eggs are too expensive at $2.50 a dozen... My aunt wanted some the other day and I said I did not have any. She saw my shelves full of eggs in cartons. She asked about them. I said they were hatching eggs... She replied " that's ok I can eat them?" I said " sure you can just fork over the 20 bucks for a dozen".. The tirade that followed is not printable here...... after that she said They can't all cost $20 a dozen.. I said" you're right some are more these are $100 a dozen, pointing to the white legbar eggs." Again, unprintable response, then she left unhappy with me and life....
So many people have NO idea that all eggs are not the same and that some have some serious value.
Want to talk about Goobers and aggravating. I have huge "Keep out" "AUTHORIZED PERSONAL ONLY" Bio-security containment area... and a Visitor must receive permission before entering signs all around.. Including one right smack in the middle of the drive. It cannot be missed. This idiot, about 2 weeks ago, parked right in front of it. I was out in the barn. I saw him but ignored him. I was busy and my wife was home, he can talk to her. He went to the door, she was in the basement and did not hear him. He them decided to just take a hike out to see me..... When I saw him about halfway between the barn and the sign I went to him. I asked him what he was doing, he wanted to sell me some annuity, or insurance of something. I asked him then if he saw the signs.. His response " what signs".. "the one you're parked in front of". Goober: " I didn't know it applied to me because I am here on business". Me: "what business" Goober " selling insurance and annuities". Me" Did I invite you here?" Goober " no, but I stop at farms all the time" Me " did you see the signs" Goober : "I said, I didin;t think it applied to me". Me :" then just who, in the (deleted) do you think the (deleted) sign applies too, turn you (deleted) around and get (deleted) off here as fast (deleted) legs will carry your fast (double deleted).... I am pretty sure he was related to your goober JR based on how he left. I doubt he will be back.. I have another sign my SIL gave me, but my wife won't let me put it up. I will someday soon.
Idiots, seriously. Our neighbor down the has that sign posted on a tree near one of his talks in to the woods, I think it's hilarious.

Oh Ralphie, what a bummer! After all the hoops you've jumped through to get NPIP! Maybe the state vet will be able to give you answers. It doesn't make sense to me. If it were a rule, they would have told you about it before. And not approved you in the first place. Unless it's a new rule this year. :(

Thank you @rjohns39 I knew we were supposed to get thunderstorms today, but didn't know how bad. I will go check the radar now. (I am north of Indy, we often miss the bad weather. The line seems to usually fall south of downtown.)

I hope Feedman is ok. He just fixed all those roofs...

Edited cuz I couldn't remember if rjohns was 39 or 10. Oops.

That really sucks :( This kind of stuff is exactly why I just want to do NPIP equivalent and not full NPIP.

Finnie, the map I'm looking at suggests that zionsville will be in the yellow (rain and some wind), maybe the outskirts of orange. I suspect lebanon should be all yellow.

I talked to the state vet..

She is on my side!..

Sounds like it will all work out. It might require testing a sample of my chickens every quarter for MG. I have no problems doing that.

She even said my turkeys are an indicator of my chickens not having MG. If my chickens have MG my turkeys should and living together it would be in them both. I am happy again.

I am probably going to get the inspection from Hades for going to the state vet. Oh well, I can handle that,

Come on Auroradream you can get the rating , give it a shot. No excuses!

I just don't want the government to have a hand in my flock. I can ship eggs to most states with NPIP equivalent. I have no plans to ship live chicks lol
