A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Lesson on foraging.

I had uninvited guests this morning waiting for me to let everyone out to free range.

Reposting this here, because it's just funny. My turkeys investigated the turkey vultures last year. If I remember, this was in the morning, when the turkey vultures sometimes are on the ground because their wings are damp.

You might want to look into becoming a feed supplier.
You don't have to become your own mill. My long time supplier got into the feed business because his father was asked by the feed makers to become a dealer for them. It started a long profitable business for him and later his son.

I've thought about mixing my own feed (once I have more than 8 birds) to cut costs.

This morning it's damp and foggy but the turkeys/guineas are just as excited for grass. It's kinda like silent hill fog out there...

That's what a friend about 3 hours from me did. He got so angry with trying to get feed, that he found an old used hammer mill and mixer, and now he sells feed.
Years ago when I was running 100 plus head of horses, along with the turkeys, ducks, geese, chickens, calves, goats, pigs, and more - we had an old hammermill that ran off a pulley and a tractor PTO. It certainly saved us a lot of time (and grief) making our own feed.
