A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I'm tired of winter already. Can we have summer back now? We had snow yesterday that froze in to ice on all the roads. It was a whole 9° when I work up this morning and a grand 23° now with the wind whipping around out there. My daughter's band concert is tonight at 6 when the next snow storm is supposed to start up, dropping more inches (I think 3-6?) Overnight. Hubby drove his prius to work this afternoon so I could have the subaru (4wd) and will be driving home around 11, about a 45 minute drive up the mountain. That makes me nervous! Then we have a concert to go to tomorrow night, an hour away, even further up north/mountains. Needless to say, I'm not happy with winter right now.

As far as the flock, everyone is indoors today. The turkeys may not have minded the cold so much but I wanted to protect the Marans thar are in with them from frostbite. The chicken coop is closed right too.only 1 hen made an attempt to leave this morning to go to her favorite nest (rabbit hutch) but retreated back to the coop after a feeble attempt. The only ones upset about the arrangement are the geese and they still have frozen water droplets in their feathers from swimming yesterday while the water was freezing around them!

Thank you for letting me vent. Now to drag myself out there to get any eggs that didn't manage to freeze yet :/

I so hate winter.

I had to run drip water at faucets last night to keep them from freezing in the 5 degree with 30 mph winds we were having. I know the windchill at one point was -4 degrees here at the house. Found out this morning, that although most of my water buckets had frozen, the turkeys and ducks can make holes in the ice.

We also had a "skiff" of snow, less than an inch. NOT sure why the county roads people were out there plowing since they typically leave more than an inch of snow when we have feet of the stuff. I figure they were "practicing". hah!

Called yesterday to order propane for my fireplace. Lady told me she would put me on the list but had no idea when the driver would deliver and that it might be from 10 days to 2 weeks. Instead, he woke me up at 7am at almost the break of dawn. But at least I now have heat for the next few weeks and he knows what I look like with bedhead. (sigh)

Btw, I still hate winter. :old

Correction: 2-3 inches. Arg!

Argh, sorry :( My alert still says 3"-6" but it wasn't supposed to start till 6:00...it's lightly snowing now and my car already has a dusting on it.

I feel for you! Yesterday, weather said we were going to get 4-6. As of a few minutes ago, that has been changed to a "dusting". Good!

Temp right now is 23 with a real feel of 14. X2 Arggggg!

Glad your only supposed to get a dusting now. Last night, we had an alert saying 4"-8" but the assist was canceled early and we only got about 2". I'm not so sure that things will work out that way this time around.
