I started last spring with a BBB and BBW. A coon got the BBB and the BBW dressed out to 40# for Thanksgiving and Heckle and Jeckle (profile pic) was bought at auction. Heckle dressed out to 16# for this weekend family Christmas dinner. Holding onto Jeckle (displaying) for possible breeding.

Two days of rain. Not complaining. We sure needed it. Luckily it's been close to 60 so it's not ice. The turkey walk tonight was a slog. But I let my little SS join us for the first time. They are too cute. They stayed right with their turkey moms. And their turkey moms kept a sharp eye on them showing them all the good bits of green. Little guys had quite the time exploring. I do get a kick out of the relationship between the little SS and the turkey moms.

I really like you more during the summer than I do right now, as we head for 20 below over Christmas....

Sorry been MIA for a while (if anyone missed me, that is).

Anyway, turkeys are still being butts and husband has decided guinea fowl for Easter sounds grand. The turkeys will be getting a turkey tractor built to allow them to eat more bugs and grass.

Going to be replacing the shavings in the coop with sand before the winter rains are upon us. It’s gotten wet (they dumped their 5 gallon waterer yesterday) and had some sideways rain the day before.. smells sooo great. If it weren’t dropping to freezing at night it’d be much smellier I’m sure.

Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well and has a Merry Christmas and all other holidays you may celebrate are happy as well!

I start work mid next week at the local feed store so yay here’s to discounted animal supplies! They have plans to put me in charge of baby chicks when they come in for the spring.

I’ve been canning and selling canned jams for the holidays and am almost sold out! Crazy! For tax/business purposes we’re trying to make it look like attempting to profit (although obviously after tractor and other things like fencing costs there’s no net profit)

Anywho, add on multiple family visits and potluck stuff and random husband business trips and that’s been my crazy December.

Hey PolarBerry....feed store gig sounds cool.

Your right Ralphie....it's brutal here in the summer. I worry much more about my animals in the heat vs the cold. I'm just a winter wimp. However, the bottom is dropping out starting on Christmas. Supposed to be in the teens at night. I'm already cold just thinking about it.....

The teens will seem like a heat wave here....I dislike the cold...I hate the heat...

Our winter storms mostly come from the northeast. Seems like ralphie likes to share his winter woes. Yesterday morning it was in the 40°s F with the wind coming from the southwest. This morning the wind is coming from the northeast with a current temperature of 10°F and dropping and 5 1/2" of snow so far.
