A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Drizzling rain here for three days. Our high was 52...I froze all day. Got home and had to dig out some socks and long jeans. Still been wearing tee shirts, shorts & crocks up till today. Girls were sopping wet. Daisy was hopping & flapping....at least shes happy with this weather. Turned on my heat to take the chill off. Sure was hoping for some nice fall weather....oh well.

On another front...its cooled off enough to start up coonhound training again. Oh boy....

Didnt take the girls for a stroll tonight. Felt so bad....they were standing at the gate ready to go. Hate to disappoint them, but just too soggy for me. I herded them to the coop under protest! They had a few choice "words" for me...it was non-stop Put-Put-Put.

It's been in the 30s at night here every day this week and every night in the forecast. Still rainy and yucky here, like all summer except cold too. There've been whispers of that dreaded, white, fluffy stuff making an appearance soon :/

I know it's only Tuesday but it's been a rough week already this week. I got a call early yesterday morning that my Pappy had passed away. It was something that we've seen coming for a while but was still a shock. We just went to visit him last week. I'm so glad we did. Then we had to take our old dog, Rocky, to the vet for the last time yesterday too. He was 14 1/2 years old and just gave up. It was time. And after all that, we found out that the furnace in our rental house stopped working. A bad belt, clogged flue, and bad sensor were the culprits. I finally just got home from supervising that repair man. I'm emotionally drained already. Tomorrow is my mom's birthday and I have no clue what to get her. Any good suggestions? It was her dad who passed away so we need to come up with something "Sappy" as my brother put it.

The flock is doing ok. I just found lice on the chickens. I can't dip them with the weather being so cold though so I'm going to have to dust them all :/ Turkeys too. Not sure if they have any but if the chickens do, better treat everyone.

Sorry to vent on everyone. I'm just stressed out tonight. Hope everyone else is having a better week than I am!

Thank you all for your thoughts and support. This week has gotten better, it just had a really rough start. The furnace our old house is back up and running again (we're a good $500 lighter note of course). My mom's birthday was very nice yesterday. I found her a pretty little silver bracelet. She loved it. My brother and my sister in law were visiting from Oregon and my uncle (moms brother) is home from Germany for the week so we all went out to Cracker Barrel for brunch and drove to a few wineries for some tastings. My brother and I each bought my mom a different bottle of wine. Then we all drove back to my house to pick the kids up. Everyone thought the flock was really cool. They loved the turkeys and the geese :) Then it was dinner at Marzoni's. By then it was time to head home and get the kids to bed. It was a busy but good day. There were no dark clouds hovering our heads
