A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

No eggs yet. But they are getting close. The girls are a bit "short" with each other. Daisy bit Annie on the head last night. Hormones are starting to kick in. This is the latest in the year they've ever started laying. I'm putting it down to weather. And not to them just being slackers. They molted early too. I think all of this is weather related and turkeys have the ability to predict long range forecasts. I'm giving up on the weatherdorks and going to just consult with the girls!!

Molpet...that's crazy! There has been a bunch of news coverage about turkeys taking over towns & chasing people & cars. Personally, I love it!! I'm amazed how these poor hens are able to raise delicate poults in the wild. I suspect turkeys have a plan to take over the world. Starting with small towns. Can you imagine? Turkeys more prevalent than stray dogs or squirrels??

My experience is that turkey hens start laying later each year as they age. My 11 year old hen originally started laying in the middle of March. last year she did not start laying until June.
