It would seem that someone is carrying a recessive color gene. It does look similar to an Oregon Blue poult. So if I was expecting 3 poults color patterns but got 4, does that mean the parents have a recessive gene that gave me another color? Or are there color mutations that have two different fluff colors as poults?
Hatchery sourced parents. Standard Bronze tom, 1 Bourbon Red hen, and 2 Blue Slate hens. I was expecting Red Bronze, Black with barred wings, and Slate with barred wings.
This one should be Red Bronze, looks like the poults I hatched last month.

This one has me confused. The body is light gray, almost looked silvery before it fluffed out some more. The head has a reddish almost coppery color with faint striping.

Such cute chicks y'all!
Well....turned the A/C on in the house tonight. I caved in. I cant sleep if it's too warm. I also need to set up the girls fans. Coonhound disappeared & I found him asleep on an A/C vent. He loves his creature comforts.
Thanks! Request now pending, I hope to get some answers soon. They are cute little buggers. It would seem that someone is carrying a recessive color gene. It does look similar to an Oregon Blue poult.
You could try posting it on the Turkey Genetics Group on Facebook.
Congratulations.Ok. I just had my NPIP testing done yesterday. The state vet wanted to catch some of my turkeys for testing. After a LOT of work he caught two RP hens. Feathers everywhere. But he wanted one more. So I told him the two blacks in the next up front, one's a snake the other is just figuring it out. So grab the one on the left. What's he do, grab the snake. She pecked the heck out of him. Oh and she's setting on a rock. In the end he got the samples but I was really amazed at how badly these guys are at catching birds.
