So lapper training continues. The mottled "gets it". The penciled is still not sure. Daisy watches the whole process by laying her head on my knee wanting attention. She feels my lap is her territory. As soon as I put the baby's in their cage, up she hops. She needs her turn too! Helps that I have a fan hanging on the fence....a lap in the shade under a fan...life is good!

Severe storms on our forecast...yet again. Along with 87% humidity. Daisy will be spending the day in her wading pool in front of a fan.

He is good. He really liked some of my turkeys weird colors and patterns. Claimed one or two were mottled, I dunno they are just cool looking turkeys to me with weird personalities.

I threw them some strawberries from a box that was a tad too mature for human consumption. He watched my blue slate Tom run over and grab a really large one before anyone else reached it and swallow it whole.
This was the beer gut one, but he has feathers covering the gut so it’s not as funny looking. He liked that one and my young RP I hatched in January.

I spent the day making sure he didn’t steal one I wanted to keep.

I am sad to report my little leather turkey did not make it. Found him in the brooder stone cold dead.

To say I am now extremely paranoid - would be a major understatement since he seemed to be doing so well.

In the meantime, my sister found some midget turkey eggs and made a deal with the owner to send me 6 - although one may be from a blue slate turkey.

Due to the above-mentioned paranoia - I even ordered a new small incubator - one of the Magicfly - Janoel 9-12 eggs. I read reviews here, other places online, and watched numerous videos. One, I figure I can set on my desk and keep a very close eye on what happens. Two, I couldn't see setting up one of my big incubators for 6 eggs. Since I already have 29 chicken chicks along with a duck that is setting a few more, I don't think I need more (unless I set a couple with the turkey eggs).

I am open to any advice and of course, all the luck you can send!

This has been a hard year. I only have about a dozen young ones.

I blame the weather, and the WW. She is eating the turkey eggs so I won’t hatch them any more this year.

I've had folks here...who usually hatch chickens & ducks...say the same. Unusual problems with hatching.
