A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I bet the midgets are cuties! I've never seen one in person. Daisy is x-large! I think its middle age spread! She's a bit of a tank right now. Amazingly she still gets her fat butt off the ground. Still flies around the back in the morning. Then spends the rest if the day in a wading pool or in front of a fan.
If you think Daisy is fat, you should check out some broad breasted hens for comparison.

Does Tommie like the sprinkler? They all like playing in a sprinkler here. Even the chickens! As I'm watering, Daisy likes to stick her feet under the water. Yep....guess she's pretty spoiled!

Ralph, I feel so sorry for them when they drop those wings & pant! Glad yours have fans!!
No, none of them particularly like getting wet - unless it's standing in the pouring rain. Go figure. Even so, I watched Tommie get into the little duck pond (which is a large boat-shaped sandbox) on his own. First time I've seen any purposely get their feet wet. The chickens are more apt to get in the big pond out front cause they can sit on the water lilies. Most can fly in - then fly out -- but have seen some of them swim out.

Still waiting on the power to come back. I have towels handy to wrap the incubator in case anything else happens - like the generator running out of gas. I THINK I refilled it the last time, but it's been so long, I am not sure. I know I usually do, but hey - at least I have gas ready to put in if I screwed up.

The main are protein, lysine, methionine and niacin. I know that vitamin D is added but not whether it is higher than in normal feeds.
Lysine is what I was forgetting...
Ooo does this mean that you found someone to mix your feed? Or supply it?
There's hope. Tucker is coming out with a new Non-GMO starter that is supposed to be good for turkeys, water fowl and quail. still waiting for the analysis.

My neighbor has a small flock of "midget whites" They appear to be an interesting bird.

Loosing power is the worst! Hope it comes on soon Flash. My chickens & turkeys both like their little wading pools. And Daisy will follow my hose around. I need a pic of a chicken on a water lily!
R2elk....Dsisy is no where as big as a BB. Shes just "fluffy"!

Sort of. They scatter like cockroaches when I enter their pen. But when I pick one up they settle down quickly. I've suspended lapper training due to feather growth. They have some pin feathers and I'm sure its uncomfortable to be handled. So I just sit in there with them tight now. Boy the penciled is pretty! I need to get some up dates pics! The mottled, poor thing, is a bit unfortunate looking right now.
