So the more colorful bird is sweet grass, so what does that make the other one standing next to the sweet grass?

is there a variation among sweet grass? The lighter ones are red bronze over Royal Palm, the red bronze is a result of burbon red over Royal Palm.

Sweetgrass can be from mostly white to almost no white.

A Red Bronze created by crossing a Bourbon Red with a Royal Palm, is bb1 Ccg Nn Rr. It is possible to create Royal Palms Calicos, Cornish Palms or Sweetgrass by breeding him to a Royal Palm.

If the offspring turned out to be Sweetgrass, the hens would be pure Sweetgrass and the toms would be carrying a hidden recessive Narragansett gene. Calicos can look very much like Sweetgrass but are carrying the recessive red gene.

If trying to breed pure Sweetgrass, it is best not use the offspring from the Red Bronze/Royal Palm mating in your breeding program. Only DNA testing or controlled breedings can determine which recessive genes they are carrying.

On Thursday I successfully hatched my first turkey! I am amazed at how many markings the poult has. The colors were expected as we purchased some others of the same breed but we're already 2 months old at the time. Friday another egg hatched, there are 3 eggs left to hatch but I was shocked that this 2nd baby is blonde! I have no idea if that's the right term. Some help on that would be appreciated lol. Anyway here they are getting some snuggles as they peep until they fall asleep otherwise. IMG_20190720_175507.jpg IMG_20190720_175520.jpg IMG_20190720_175448.jpg
