Two of my Narri girls flew out of the pen. Usually they just circle around trying to figure out how to get back. This time they headed for the north forty (well okay, the north 6ish) and disappeared into the high grass where the cows haven’t gotten to yet. I couldn’t find them at all, was really bummed. Irritating little birds. DH went out and looked but also couldn’t find them. He wanted to count the ones inside the netting. Me: “They don’t fly back in. They only fly out and then circle around meeping.”

Being stubborn, he insisted and to my shock there were eight. Which is how many I had (which is too many, considering that doesn’t even count the other varieties I couldn’t resist.) I guess wonders never cease.

I'm amazed at how good my poults are at bedtime. They just march right into the pen. They aren't even getting a bedtime treat for their efforts. I put them up....then go sit in a chair with Daisy for a bit. It's our new routine. She's gotten to the point where she hops into the chair to wait for me. Now tell me turkeys are stupid!
