Whatcha gonna do if it’s an ugly poult?

Aww she is the cutest little thing! What variety is she?
I️ have Blue Slate Turkeys. I️ have been hatching for several years now. I’m pretty sure they are an Auto-sexing breed, I️ have never been wrong on the sex before. I️ will post pics of my poults as they hatch, so that you can see them. Though, usually my poults end up with yellow down on the head and tips of wings, but this one is white 🤔 interesting.

Here’s a picture of a poult with the yellow from a past hatch:

I️ do have a question regarding the poult. It has been out with the momma since yesterday morning. It seems to have a weak neck and weak legs. It stays in a kinda sorta fetal position while rolling around. It keeps leaning only to 1 specific side. The mom keeps shoving it out from under her and isn’t keeping it warm. I️ have moved it the my bator with my 7week old chick that is still the size of a 3-4week chick. This chick absolutely adores the babies and any babies that are smaller than him. They spent early this morning snuggling. Anyways, My question is: What can I️ do about the weak neck and the leaning? I️ already have placed it in a small (shot) glass. This will help strengthen the legs and help with the tilt.

Thanks!

Blue Slate are not a sex link variety and they are also not auto sexing. If you haven't been wrong, you have been very lucky.

There are only two turkey color genes that are sex linked and those are brown (ee or e-) and Narragansett (nn or n-).

Yesterday the Blue Slate hen lied to me and pretended that she didn't have babies. I could see at least 5 empty egg shells beside her. There has been a raccoon hanging around so to avoid unnecessary losses, I managed to swipe 3 from her. Two were Sweetgrass and the third was a Tri-Color Mottled Black. I added them to the brooder with the other ten poults that i have swiped.

This morning when I checked on her the Wild hen was beside her. I don't know if she was just checking out the poults or if she was going to try to steal some. I grabbed the camera in case I could get some cute poult pics but they were all back under her when I got back.

She got up off of the nest for me and I was able to swipe 8 Sweetgrass poults, one Tri-Color Mottled Black poult and two Tri-Color Mottled Slate poults. I did leave her with one Sweetgrass poult that was still wet from hatching. So far she has hatched 15 out of this clutch.

Rosabelle disappeared about a month ago to the summer pasture. If she isn't dead she should be coming back with a trail of poults soon. In the meantime Pretty Girl and June(grass) have successfully hatched 14. They are first time, although Pretty Girl attempted last year but had poor location. Pretty Girl is one of Rosabelle's daughters.
