All the hens are Blue Slates. The tom was a Self Blue. My Blue Slate hens had very much larger than average size snoods. My Sweetgrass hens have tiny snoods.

I guess the biggest difference I can see between the BS and the SB would be the dark specks or splashes in the BS. That coloring is more favorable to me. She is just beautiful.

Another question, if the Tom displays to attract a mate, why would a hen display? I mean, usually the female doesn’t advertise, so to speak, does she?

Jealousy. Dominance disputes.

I had one hen that would pick a fight with the tom before she would mate with him.

It is a term devised to keep Ralphie out of trouble with the moderators. He uses it instead of a$$ holes.

Bellybutton- jerk
Lurkey turkey- keeps out of reach but wants to be close
Tolerant turkey- won't object to being held/ touched but won't seek out attention
Lapper- loves attention and seeks it out
