A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I just looked outside and Romeo got out of the pen. He's casually walking around with Bella who always seems to be out. I'm very surprised to see that he's not fighting with Taz through the fence, the goose is totally ignoring him and my male muscovy, who usually attacks him if he's out doesn't care. Maybe he can retire to the main coop instead of the silkie pen if things are going to be peaceful.

Had a gentleman come buy a few turkey hens. He had bought 4 poults last year. My oldest had helped him pick them out. Guess what gender they all were?
That's right, 4 toms. He only has one tom left, the others left to join the wilds, went to the neighbor's for some ladies, or became something's dinner ( he's out in the sticks)
The lingering tom has developed a habit of perching on the railing and watching the house occupants. He's rather bored and a bit lonely, and he has been eyeing the chickens in a way he didn't like.
Hopefully the two hens will do well for him.

I've seen breeding going on but haven't had anymore eggs. Every single egg that I did get though back in December/January was infertile :/ I reduced my toms last fall because I thought they were fighting over the girls too much. I may have been wrong...Taz needs some alone time with the ladies. I think I'll arrange that as soon as they start laying again.
