I’d still like to breed birds as close to the standard as possible.

When the standard is wrong, I ignore it.

Feel like I may be talking too much of my own turkeys but oh well.
I tried to get photos of my chocolate females(I believe technically both barred), but they were being incredibly rude and kept running away.
I have two, along with 3 toms. If i’m able, i’d like to breed two lines to get solid chocolates to breed together safely without inbreeding.
I also named my birds.
This is Television, she’s the younger of the two and I got her from Mcmurray hatchery this year-

This is Twix, got her from a breeder in-state around christmas time last year with a partner. Kept 0 of their poults from this year’s breeding season, but i’d like to amend that next year-

This is them in a photo together(with my black female) TV is the one in the back, Twix in the front. they all ran off after the photo and I gave up on photos of them to deal with other things.

I'm officially joining the "Tom going broody" club. I found my 5 year old boy Griffon sitting on eggs in the coop in the middle of the day yesterday, and I found him in there again today. Very cute.

Edit: Here he is, and his little brood. Which won't hatch, considering sometimes he leaves and stays outside anyway, so.

That sculpture is wonderful. I’ve got a turkey sculpture in my room alongside two miniature figures, but they aren’t nearly as freaking unique as that. Love the snood, love the wings, love the orb.

Couldn't help taking a few pics of the wild turkeys feeding all around my yard in the fresh snow today. Momma hen and her 3 poults, 2 jennies 1 jake. She nested and raised them right around the farm. Have been able to watch them grow all summer. They usually roost in the trees around my pond.

This 6 month old jenny has lost her beak tip, and there's a small crack left. Anything I need to do? Is she in any pain?

The APA standard calls for brown eyes in all turkeys. The black based turkeys have blue eyes. Therefore it is the standard that is wrong. Blue Slates are black based (BB) and have blue eyes. If they had brown eyes they would not be (BB) and would not be Blue Slates.
