I had a hen that flew up to the house roof and walk down to get to the other sideHere’s to my turkeys who can’t stop visiting my back porch. At this point I know I need to close the gate that opens up from the back because they came up front twice today, but I still suspect if they wanted they could jump it. Watched a female barred chocolate do so today, and i’ve seen the -calico? poor quality royal palm?- tom Max(front in both photos) fly over taller gates.View attachment 3328956View attachment 3328957
I had a wild hen that would hop up on the flatbed trailer and then fly onto the house roof rather than fly over the fence.I had a hen that flew up to the house roof and walk down to get to the other side... instead of hop a 4ft fence
The real question here, is did she know how to get back?I had a hen that flew up to the house roof and walk down to get to the other side... instead of hop a 4ft fence
She was coming into the fenced off area. She came and went on a regular basis. She would fly onto the house roof when she was leaving too.The real question here, is did she know how to get back?![]()
I think the black tom’s eyes are brown, but I’m no turkey eye color expert either. Can I get some help on eye color for these two? This is my breeding pair of spanish blacks. I apologize for bad photos, wiggly turkeys and an iphone camera don’t work well together.
This is the female, pretty confident her eyes are brown. They’re dark all the way through. She has bronze leakage in her feathers so isn’t homozygous for black.

This is the male, I can’t tell with the dark ring then paleness in the outer ring.. I’m pretty sure it’s the sclera but i don’t want to make sudden claims over things I know little about(turkey eyes). His aren’t noticeably blue like some of my other birds, a barred lavender tom in particular has very very obvious blue eyes. This guy is homozygous black though I believe(produced only black offspring, no bronze leakage)

This is my blue-eyed barred lavender for blue eye comparison. His are absolutely blue.
