A Dangerous Topic - the new health care plan

I hate to chime in again....but we need to consider a couple of other realities.

1. Under the proposed plan, in laymans terms, a Dr will be expected to see MORE patients and unfortunately be paid LESS money (I'm not a Dr....just to clarify). With that said, how many bright, young people (the future Drs, nurses, etc) will opt out of this profession simply due to the fact that they will no longer be able to earn what a Dr SHOULD earn after 8-10 yrs of school, internships, student loans, etc, etc. Do we really want someone who was NOT the head of their class treating us??

2. The ONLY way a system like this can be paid for is to increase taxes (on everyone)....sorry for the mis-informed, but there is NO FREE LUNCH. Now, to make things seem even more unfair, assume a household making $100,000 (let's use an arbitrary increase, this is not factual, only for illustration)gets a 5% increase in taxes to pay for "Obamacare"...thats an additional $5000 in taxes to that family. However, another family earning $40,000 at a 5% increase pays only $2000....for the SAME, rationed, mismanaged, less than expeditious coverage that the family paying $5000 gets. Now, IF I paid $5000 for something, I would certainly hope it would be "worth" more than something that someone paid $2000 for. I think that most rational people would agree...however, NOT THE CASE HERE!!

This system is simply another way that the current regeme choses to "redistribute wealth".

Welcome to the beginning of a 2 class society....

The "have's" and
The "have nots"

Too many other countries have gone thru similar changes to their governments, mostly either socialist or communist. I see NO shining examples of success.

Sorry for the rant....I guess government intervention in my life just sets my blood to boiling.

Like I said, we cant even solidify S.S. How can we afford this?

People, government is involved in every level of life now, some good some bad. Government is responsible for:

Roads
schools
parks (local, state, national)
migratory birds
patrolling territorial fishing waters
managing fishing and hunting
IRS
immigration
food safety (inclucing the labeling that let's us dieters know what is in our food)
product safety (lead in products from China)
range leasing (BLM)
clean water
mineral rights management
the military
drug regulation
law enforcement
laws themselves
the post office
medicare/medicade
VA
border patrol
driver liscensing
research funding
NASA
UT, A&M, UCLA, The Air Force Academy, West Point, etc
Census Bureau
sex offender registries
police
fire fighters

The list is nearly endless. I don't agree with everything my taxes are spent on, and I don't think every government agency/effort is well run; however, just because the government is involved doesn't mean that something is poorly run or ineffcient. Most of us like clean air and water, safe and reliable medicines, roads, schools, and parks. People who say they don't want the government in their lives aren't paying attention. JMHO

Hearsay of the week:

National Guard recruiter told me Saturday that 4000 National Guardsman (and women) have been deployed to "your place", which I assumed meant all along the border. (We've only got 1 bathroom, so I hope 4000 people don't show up.) I pointed out that we had been having illegals come through every night for several weeks and asked if this National Guard activity was due to something going on. He said the POTUS has deployed them to get his healthcare pushed through, because he knows Americans don't want to cover illegals' health care.
We were then "shhhhh"d, so didn't get to talk more.

Any National Guard people out there that can verify this?????

I could take that list and explain how each thing on it is screwed up in its own way..
just to start..the schools..UGH! IF that is how they'll treat our health care we'll all be DEAD!
th.gif
The are cutting school budgets left and right!! Ask any teacher about all the cuts...

Moms Folly

I totally agree that government is here (like it or not), however, not a single item on the list is properly managed, funded and/or executed. Some are not even necessary. Therein is my concern over healthcare. If someone can show me ONE area of our lives where the government DOES do something well, that is truly meaningful in the everyday lives of US citizens, then I might reconsider. "Business" and the free market economy are better left to the private sector.

I am not trying to be argumentative. Please understand that I just think our government (National as well as local) does an extremely poor job of running business.

These are probably the 5 best sentences you'll ever read. This is one paragraph that should be in every book in every school room in every city in every state in our great Union . Our educators should make a lesson plan on this one statement and pour these words into every head in every class in every state in these United States of America .

Remember the date .......................................1931

"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."*
