A Dangerous Topic - the new health care plan

I am and most of America is in favor of improving our health care system. A government takeover we all know is not going to improve it, just change it, better for a small number and worse for everybody else.

My father raised me with a few simple business rules, KIS(Keep It Simple), be honest and don't hand your customers double talk, be fair, set goals and priorities, and very important do not try to tackle to much and overload your capabilities, tackle one problem at a time.

I think we all could accept a well rounded approach to addressing each individual problem that needs to be fixed and do it right the first time. Without trying to sneak BS past the American people. Any laws and regulations concerning health care should apply to ALL including the ones shoving it down our throats. If it is not good enough for them it is not good enough for us.

It is written clearly. I understood every "pretty" word written there. Shared responsibilty. That means everyone. employers, employees, and the government.

I need to add this while its on my mind. I'm gonna be nice as I can. Here goes:
I'm getting tired of the folks that oppose this plan, or even govt health care reform, being called things like "misinformed, fake, Astroturf, un-american, part of a conspiracy, ect." These are not things the Joe Blow down the street has said, but Nancy and Harry and news anchors. Did these same people call the people who protesed the war and Pres Bush all these names? NOPE. All you heard from them was the fact that this was their right as American's. What do you think would have happened if the leading Republican in the House called anti war protesters "fake" and say that these protesters aren't grassroots, but "Astroturf". He would be forced out of office. I don't mean to play politics, because they are all crooks, I'm just tired of the double standard of the Dems and the Mainstream Media.

There, I'm off my soap box.

I have extremely mixed feelings on this topic... I believe it would be beneficial for folks like me to a point. I used to weigh over 200lbs(no other health issues we knew of though at that time) and was denied health insurance because of my weight. Now at this point in our lives we make too much for KCHIP for our son but can't afford anything above a supplemental or mini policy... And I am still not insured if anything major was to happen we would be bankrupt. Luckily hubby has Medicare(disability). For this reason I think it would be beneficial and for folks like me I think we would deserve to have an equal opportunity to healthcare. I don't mind paying even if it were affordable, I'd just like it to be fair. Plus it would cut back on insurance fraud drastically.
BUT, I also don't like the idea of not being able to choose your Dr. and the government getting to take control of your health life. Kinda taking away our rights to free choice.

As for the rationing issue; my current insurance company rations health care. It says which doctors I can see, which medications they will cover, who I have to get those medications from, which procedures they cover and caps my coverage. If I choose anything different than what they specifiy, I must self pay, or pay a much higher copayment. This is no different that what the National Health Service in Britain does. Many insurance companies cap coverage at $250,000. That means one child in the NICU, one family member in a serious car accident, one bad case of cancer and you are done. No more coverage for anyone in your family; and you have a preexisting condition to take to the next insurance company.

Our current system is not working. We have too many low paying service jobs with not enough manufacturing and other higher paying jobs. We have a two teir system in this country where the rich and middle class get world class health care, and the poor and lower middle class get little to no healthcare at all. The working poor are hurt most of all. Their income is too high for government assistence and they can't afford private, or what their companies may offer.

In this country, when you own a car you must have insurance. Mortgage companies require insurance on homes in order to qualify for the mortgage. Why is it so difficult (socialist?) to require a low cost, minimal coverage health insurance plan be offered to every American?

Basically, I agree with this. I don't trust the government to manage my healthcare.

I know some people in Canada and they complain about their national healthcare - long, long, long waits to see doctors - long waiting lists for surgeries or specialists. With my current, excellent health care, I've come to expect very fast service. Acting quickly for medical problems prevents death!

We are not supposed to be a socialist government - now our government owns our banks, big car dealers and now healthcare? This is getting scary

One thing I totally respect though about Canadas healthcare(at least from many yrs ago) is aliens don't get the free healthcare. Back when some friends of ours was battling with a chronic condition they were going to move back to Canada(she is a Canadian he isn't) because they thought he'd have free healthcare there. There were issues from his past and a lot of red tape before they would even consider seeing him and sent him back to the states.

I see only ageneralisation of what is going tio be written into law
this is what the gov would have you believe.I ,as asmall business owner that provides Health care for my Employees and their families can only believe that this is one the things that the gov can only screw up. Believe me ,Insurance is expensive! I insure 6 families and the cost is exhorbitant yet I will absorb the expense rather than see it go to the gov! For I am far safer in my own hands than those of another.
