A Little Shotgun Help, Please!

The 870 is an excellent, durable, and accurate gun. Go with 12ga. You can choose your loads to adjust recoil, and choose your choke to adjust pattern. If you are after turkeys, you really need the power the 12ga has to offer. If in the future you choose to hunt geese as well, you may have to have a 12. Some states require a minimum of 12 ga to hunt geese. On the other hand, for varmint control, you can easily use trap loads that won't stress your shoulder or punch a hole through a building at any range. That may not seem important, since noone would knowingly shoot at a building, but accidents happen. Also, there are companies that sell specialty shotshells that are only loaded for 12ga. Rubber buck or beanbag loads are enough to kill a racoon, seriously damage a coyote, yet weak enough to have little chance of permanent injury to a person.

by the way, my 20 guage bantam can shoot 3'' as well

Remington 870 12 gauge (add a rifle sight and you can also shoot slugs quite accurately at 50 yards; it's a multipurpose gun I carried for years as a cop). Tuck it in tight and practice so you're not afraid of it and you won't go wrong. Unless of course you'd like to spring over 1K for the Benelli M1 Super90 semi-auto....... drool........ can you tell I don't have one?)

Hmmmm, how many turkeys can I get for $1K? LOL

BTW at 100 yds a 12 ga is pretty accurate too.. If you consider hitting a paper plate accurate..

...jiminwis........

As many have said you want a 12 ga if you plan to hunt Turkeys.
The Remington 870 is a great value for the price. It's the most sold pump shotgun ever, it can be adapted for several purposes & it's affordable-under $200 @ Walmart. Also it's American Made.
