A Poll On Meat and Meatless Nights (Now with a bonus question)

I chose 8 ad 10....although I am not a canable!

#8 not at every meal but normally at supper. I am trying to get to #10 as much as possible but it is a work in progress.

We have around 400 lbs of deer coming from the processer tomorrow, and I am hoping to get 75 meat birds this spring. Between the two of them, we would have all the meat we needed for at least 18 months.

2 and 1 (for #2 it is a combination of factors....industry/personal beliefs)
Quit eating meat, seafood, poultry a little over 20 years ago. Don't miss it at all and it does not feel like I 'gave up anything'. Weight is good, cholesterol and BP very good, healthy
I do feed my animals meat/bugs but try to use as much organic and/or local as possible

In order, I would say 6, 5, and 7. I would like to eat more meat that we grow ourselves, and less that is produced commercially. We are on our way there having raised some meat birds and we have a steer that we have bought 1/3 of that is currently being raised at a local farm. My goal is to only consume meat that we raised or was raised locally in a non-commercial manner. I would also like to see a little less meat in our diet in general though as my husband and I are both overweight and need to eat less meat, more veggies. I am hoping to accomplish this with the garden I have planted. I need to learn a little more about gardening, but at least we are headed in that direction. I would also like to eat less meat for financial reasons, but that is not as big of a priority for me. I would definitely put humanely raised, local meat above cost. I will pay more for meat that I feel is raised in a manner I can support.

8. I eat meat everyday. In fact there are more days when I eat meat/cheese/eggs and no grains/veggies/fruits than days that I eat no meat or eggs. Tho' I do usually eat some green stuff or like now in the cold season... lots of winter squash each day. I very rarely eat grains.

Most of the red meat I eat is venison that I've killed myself. There was a time when I was making more money that I would eat a big ol' choice beef porterhouse nearly every day. I'd be happy to go back to that if I could afford it. I was probably at my healthiest then.

8. My husband and nephew would think I went crazy if I served up a dinner without meat. I would feel fine with a meatless night once a week, but they would feel like it was a sad sad day

8...i LOVE meat. i think i love meat more than my husband. i feel that animals are here for eating and supplying people with other animal products like fur. granted, i hate to think of any animal suffering, but i wouldnt be willing to go without meat for any reason.
